On 11-13 June 2018, the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute was organized the International Scientific Conference entitled "The CAP and national priorities within the EU budget after 2020" in Lidzbark Warmiński, near Olsztyn. On October 25, 2017, the Institute hosted a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The XV Congress of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) entitled "Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems: Balancing between Markets and Society" was held on 29th August - 1st September in Parma (Italy). This triennial congress is one of the most important events of its kind in the economics world and brings together nearly 1,000 representatives from research centres, social organizations, public institutions and practitioners from Europe and other parts of the world. It is an opportunity to discuss the latest research findings and the most current problems of rural development, agriculture and the food industry, both from a local and international perspective. The theme of this year's congress was sustainable agri-food systems.

On 19-21 June 2017 took place an international conference entitled "Strategies for the agri-food sector and rural areas - dilemmas of development" in Licheń. The Conference was organized under the Multi-Annual Program 2015-2019 "The Polish and the EU agricultures 2020+. Challenges, chances, threats, proposals" by the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute.

On 12-13 December 2016, the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute hosted a meeting with representatives of several European research institutions on contemporary changes of rural economy and entrepreneurship.

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that professor Bernardo M. Telles de Sousa Reynolds Pacheco de Carvalho passed away. He worked in University Tecnica de Lisboa w Portugalii, CIAT - Centro Ag. Tropical / Instituto Superior de Agronomia Tapada da Ajuda. Professor Pacheco de Carvalho was a long-term associate of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics - National Research Institute, he was an expert in the field of: food security, tropical agriculture and sustainable development economics.
